Discovery Bay is one of California's hidden treasures. Once only a tourist location, this community now has a year-round population that enjoys the beautiful marina and the view of the Delta. The People

The population of this area is made up mainly of married couples in their 40's with children who have reached the early teenage years. Many are in management positions in construction and retail professions and have achieved at least some college education.

Education is big in the area and both elementary schools have earned awards as being Distinguished schools. One of the area high schools has also earned California's Distinguished School Award.

Income levels are high in this area, with the yearly income for families averaging just over $90,000 a year. There are three public schools and a private school available. The population was just over 13,000 in 2010, and most of these families lived in the The majority of residents own their own homes.

There is one hospital in Discovery Bay, as well as an Urgent Care Center and a cancer center. Excellent medical care is always nearby should it be needed.

The Marina

The Marina is the biggest attraction for families in the Discovery Bay area. Yacht owners find it an excellent place to dock and it has easy access to San Francisco Bay. Water sports are the biggest attraction, but there are two malls in the area for those who prefer indoor activities.

Recreation

The water is the main focus of activity in this area. This area is part of the 1200-mile Delta waterways and boats, skiers and waterboarders are always in view. You can take a leisurely ride in a kayak, spend the day fishing or add excitement with a motorboat.

Memberships to the club are available year-round.
